Master-Class "Actions, Projects, and the Good"
In June 2018, Munich School of Philosophy is organizing a philosophical master-class for junior researchers and advanced students focussing on ethics, meta-ethics, and action theory.
The master-class will be taught by Prof. Dr. Monika Betzler (LMU Munich) and Prof. Dr. Katja Vogt (Columbia University, New York). Texts and discussion at the master-class will evolve around parts of Katja Vogts recent book “Desiring the Good” (Oxford University Press, 2017) and several published and unpublished papers by Monika Betzler addressing the relevance of personal projects centering on questions like “what is a good human life?” or “how do our actions as well as our mid- and long-term projects contribute to leading a good life?”
The master-class has a pre-read format. Texts will be made available 1 month before the master-class. Students will prepare the texts. Additionally, each will prepare one 10-15 talks explicating a philosophical question for one of the texts in order to start discussion. After that the sessions of master-class will be devoted to students discussion the texts with the Monika Betzler and Katja Vogt.

For those participants who are residents of Munich, the Templeton-Project "Motivational and Volitional Processes of Human Integration" will cover costs for participation and meals (ca. 135,-- EUR). Please let us know with your application, how many nights you want to stay and if you need a vegetarian diet. We are not able to cover travel-costs for participants! |
